M/S Tranen is a classic tour boat from 1931 that sails throughout the summer, especially on many sightseeing cruises and round trips.
There is a nostalgic atmosphere on board, evoking memories of school trips where one eagerly set out on explorations side by side. On Tranen today, guests are invited to wonderful experiences.
Tranen is the only electric boat in the Hjejle fleet and has become very popular for events and private parties, gliding almost silently through the water without the noise of a former diesel engine.
Since 1931
Tranen was originally named Scholle and was built for freight transport in Germany. Towards the end of World War II, the boat sank and remained at the bottom of Hamburg harbor for several months.
1946
The hull of a former German vessel was lying in the harbor at Kolby Kaas on Samsø and was named Edith. Hjejleselskabet purchased the boat for 10,000 kr, renovated it, and renamed it Tranen.
1960
In the early 1960s, Tranen underwent renovations. It received a new enclosed cabin with large windows, padded seats, and new outdoor benches in teak wood.
1971
Tranen, uniquely among the Hjejle boats, touched the bottom of Silkeborg harbor. This occurred on a cold winter day when the boat was weighed down by thawing snow.
2022
After the end of the 2021 season, Tranen underwent another modernization. Hjejleselskabet prioritizes staying current and integrating sustainability into daily operations. Therefore, Tranen became the first in the fleet to be electrified and now operates 100% on electricity. Tranen also received a completely new salon, where forward-facing benches were replaced with tables and padded benches.

When you rent Tranen, you get a wonderful crew to sail the boat. You set the course, but there are always plenty of ideas and good advice available both at the Hjejleselskabet office and in the boat’s wheelhouse.
Perhaps the boat will take a round trip without stops while you enjoy refreshments on board. Maybe you’ll dock at one of the small landing stages along the lakes so everyone can disembark for a brisk walk. Or perhaps we can together create a different program based on your wishes and our experience. There are many possibilities when you set sail with a Hjejle boat from the dock.
With us, you decide whether you want to arrange your next event yourself or draw on our many years of experience. Contact us for further information at +45 86 82 07 66 or via mail@hjejlen.com.
Great events last longer than just a single day or evening. They live on in memories and conversations long after. By choosing to host your event on one of the Hjejle boats, you’ve already laid the solid foundation that ensures the event will be a resounding success.
The Hjejle Fleet consists of 9 unique historical boats, which each year provide experiences for more than 135,000 guests on the lakes.
