Welcome aboard Hejren

Romance, charm and soul

M/S Hejren is a true native of Silkeborg, as she is the only boat in the Hjejle fleet built in Silkeborg.

The Hejren from 1909 is a charming old lady with plenty of soul. Incredibly popular for celebrating milestones, excursions, meetings, and especially weddings – it can hardly get more romantic!

With its lovely bright salon and ample space on the foredeck, Hejren sets the perfect stage every year for wonderful experiences at sea.

When you invite your guests aboard Hejren, you’re inviting them to a fantastic view through the salon’s large panoramic windows, ample space to move around the boat – inside and out, upstairs and downstairs – and plenty of opportunities to enhance the event with music and dance, entertainment, or lectures.

Since 1909

Hejren's story

1909
It was a festive day in Silkeborg when Hejren was launched on Saturday, May 15, 1909. At that time, the boat was allowed to sail with 282 passengers.

1940
During World War II, there was a ban on using gasoline for pleasure boating. However, this did not affect the sailings of Hejren, which could operate using peat.

1965
In September 1965, Hejren operated under steam for the last time. The following year, the old engines and boiler were replaced with two new Mercedes V-6 diesel engines.

2009
Hejren celebrated its 100th birthday in style on May 15, 2009. The day was marked with celebratory cruises for the people of Silkeborg and the company’s shareholders.
